Homemade Broths

Ingredients
Anything you can scrape together that is leftover will work. I collect scraps in a plastic bag all week and keep it in the fridge. At the end of the week I throw it in a pot with 8 cups of water and let it low boil for 2 hours.
  • Onion Peel or  cut off ends
  • carrot peels
  • Kale stems
  • Potato peels
  • celery ends
  • cabbage
  • cauliflower ends
  • sweet potato
  • 1 Tbsp each of these dried herbs (rosemary, thyme, and bay leaf)
  • Sea Salt to taste or make it sodium free
  • Chicken bones (for chicken broth) or 3 whole chicken breast (You can save the chicken for later for chicken salad or shred it into some soup)
First bring it all to a boil and simmer for two to three hours

Strain our the broth in a sieve with cheese cloth. I am cheap and found that Viva paper towels hold up great here.

Last you can store for later use in ice cube trays or freezer bags. Never buy broth from the store again. Know your ingredients, and get more dense nutrients out of using all your leftover tid bits from now on.
